Hives appear when the body releases an excessive amount of histamine in to the system when reacting to the presence of an irritant. Common causes are reactions to foods or food additives in processed foods. These can be hard to seperate and determine the exact causative factor. By tracking your food intake and any symptoms which may appear shortly after one can help to identify the offending foods or ingredients. Other times it is nearly impossible to identify a specific trigger. Either way you are looking for ways to get rid of hives .
Some common triggers of hives and skin rashes are
-
reactions to medications
-
exposure to poisonous plants
-
bee and wasp stings

My personal experience has shown that it can require more than one trigger to create a severe hives case. A number of years back while cleaning up some weeds and tree bark pile behind an old barn found me in an undesired position. The area was overgrown and had not been touched for a few months. In late summer I was running a tractor and loader to clean the area. Unknown to me I had exposed a large wasp nest which was in the pile of bark mulch. Not until I had been bitten about 50 times in a matter of seconds did I realize what was happening. Running from the area things were ok. I had not major reaction from the bites. Everything was fines until a few days later I was exposed to fine grain dust from a delivery of ‘screenings’ from a grain elevator.
At that time I developed a severe case of hives. They were very uncomfortable and bothersome. I wish I had access to a quick hives remedy back then. Although this is my personal experience it tells me that the possible triggers and combination of triggers can be limitless. In all cases it is best to try to prevent the occurrence of hives before they appear. So knowing what cause of hives are you can take precautions.

I have suffered from hives for over 20 years. In the past, only cortisone would bring relief. Last year, a friend who has the same problem recommended L-lysine, an amino acid. L-lysine is sold over the counter in pharmacies. My dermatologist told me that it was not toxic in any amount. When I begin to see hives developing, I megadose on L-lysine (5-6 tablets in the morning and at noon). This has been very effective in ceasing the spread of hives and lessening the severity. It has been a godsend to me, I hope it helps you.
It is recommended for allergy sufferers who suffer more than three months out of the year and have really severe allergies.
